Child Care Program

Gwendolyn B. Bland Day Care Center offers an excellent Child Care Program to children ages 2.6 years (6 months after the child's 2nd birthday) and 4 years of age. Our program is designed to work on a child's emotional, social, cognitive, and various other skills which are important in a child's development.

Advantages:
* Year round program
* Small classrooms (2-3 teachers per classroom)
* Excellent educational curriculum designed to enhance a child's emotional, social and cognitive skills.
* Full day program (8am to 6pm)
* Various fun activities

Gwendolyn B. Bland Day Care Center is contracted through Administration for Children's Services (Child Care Subsidized Program). To qualify for child care, parents must:

1) Be on public assistance (and part of an HRA approved program) or;
2) Working at least 20 hours a week or;
3) Enrolled in a job training or educational program as a full time student (students enrolled in a bachelor's degree program will not qualify) or;
4) Have a child who is receiving ACS services

CHILDREN ENROLLED AT OUR PROGRAM MUST BE COMPLETELY TOILET TRAINED! NO DIAPERS! NO PULL-UPS!

Required Documents:

Public Assistance Recipients: Must bring Child Care Application (Form W274) to center.

Working Parents: 12 Current Paystubs or Employer Verification Form (if you do not have enough pay-stubs or if you do not receive pay-stubs from your job). The Employer Verification Form must be picked up from our office. Parents must also bring copies of birth certificates and social security cards of ALL children in the household under the age of 18 (even if you are not seeking child care for all of the children).

For Children Receiving ACS services: See your caseworker.

For Children in Foster Care: Foster Parents must have social worker complete form 186D, then call 917-228-7076 to schedule an appointment with ACD.

If you have a case with ACD and your child is currently enrolled at another center or with a provider, bring in the most recent ACD placement notice and request a transfer to Gwendolyn B. Bland Day Care Center. If your case is with HRA and you are requesting a transfer, bring in the Child Application Form W274.

Who Doesn't Qualify for Day Care Services:
* Parents who are not working (unless they are enrolled in a job training program or educational program as a full time student)
* Students enrolled in a job training or educational program as a part time student or students enrolled in a bachelor's degree program
* Parents who are collecting disability (unless they are enrolled in a job training or educational program as full time students)
* Households where one parent is not working or attending a job training or educational program
* Children who are not fully toilet trained

If your child is younger than 2.6 years of age (6 months after the child's second birthday), you would have to wait until the child reaches that age to enroll.

Please note that the Kindergarten Program has been eliminated from city day care centers. Children who turn 5 this year must enroll in a Kindergarten Program at a public school, private school or charter school.
